Edwin L. Helfman M.D. developed his horse race handicapping system when he was an undergraduate student at the University of Cincinnati in 1953. He has been using it to handicap the races for well over 53 years. It is the most unique system on the market because it is based on a mathematical formula and not par times, speed ratings, or Byer figures. In 1995, After 43 years in longhand form, The Helfman Formula was automated for the computer.
